Derek Ewin has spent over 30 years prosecuting and defending DUI cases in the Contra Costa County Superior Courts. During his nearly 13 years as a Contra Costa Deputy District Attorney, he handled hundreds of Drunk Driving and DUI cases in all of the county courthouses including, Walnut Creek, Richmond (Bay), Pittsburg (Delta) and Martinez. His duties ranged from reviewing and filing cases, to negotiating with attorneys and judges, to prosecuting motions and jury trials, to sentencing and appeals. As a defense attorney, Mr. Ewin has used his knowledge of the inner workings of the DA’s Office and Contra Costa Courts to get his clients the best possible results.

Mr. Ewin also handles other aspects of Drunk Driving litigation. He will represent you against the Department of Motor Vehicles. The DMV will attempt to suspend your license a short period of time after your DUI arrest. You only have 10 days from your arrest to sign up with the DMV to contest that suspension. Mr. Ewin will defend you at your DMV Suspension Hearing and minimize or prevent any adverse impact on your driving privilege.
